Prosperous Great Action (PGA) is a non-profit social enterprise founded in 2019, dedicated to helping smallholder farmers transition from poverty to prosperity. PGA provides financing, training, high-quality seeds, fertilizers, technical support, and market access to boost food security and agricultural productivity.


Our mission focuses on maximizing farm potential through expert advice, resource management, and sustainable practices like soil improvement, water conservation, and climate resilience. PGA also supports farmers in securing better prices by aggregating produce, improving marketing strategies, and facilitating bulk sales. Their long-term goal is to ensure consistent, high-yield harvests and thriving farm communities.

Our Services

capacity building

PGA has so far empowered more than 5,000 farmers and 105 farmer groups in Busia and Bungoma counties. We aim to serve over 20,000 farmers by 2030 - both directly and indirectly by improving access to farm services

farm Care support

PGA helps farmers push up the quantity, quality and value of their land and what they produce. .We share our expertise in growing the most appropriate and profitable crops - across the value spectrum.

fARM INPUTs supply

PGA helps farmers gain access to high-quality inputs, improve soil quality by use of Grow-Mate fertilizer on credit, and we offer a flexible repayment system that allows them to pay back their loans in any amount throughout the loan term

pest & disease control

We help farmers manage crop pests and diseases by providing technical assistance  throughout the growing season – teaching them natural methods of control. We also help them access genuine, high-quality and environmentally friendly pest and disease control supplies

MARKET FACILITATION

PGA teaches farmers about market fluctuations and strive to bring the market closer to them. We offer crop storage solutions and secure better prices by working with other farmers to aggregate crops and sell them in bulk – in order to attain better returns on their investment

BUSIA-BUNGOMA 2025 SUNFLOWER aggregation PROJECT - SEASON ONE


Busia & Bungoma 2025 Sunflower Seed Project:

  • Targeted Acreage: 12,500 Acres
  • Number of Contracted Farmers: 13,000 Farmers 
  • Volume/Expected Harvest: 105 ,000 Metric Tons
  • Seed Variety:/Quality: Grade -1 Hybrid (Hysun 33, PAN 7057 and Aguara 6 Varieties)
  • Maturity Perion: 4 Months

soybean PRODUCTION ENHANCEMENT project- busia & bungoma

Soybean is a key crop for improved livelihoods and nutrition in Kenya. The crop is used as an affordable source of protein for livestock feeds. It is also used in making cooking oil, margarine, soya chunks, soap, milk, to name a few. It is one of the richest crops in terms of crude protein (ranging between 35-45 %) and contains 20 % oil. Improving soyabean production will surely increase its contribution to the Agriculture GDP.


Increasing the Soybean Production Catchment in Busia, Bungoma & Trans-Nzoia Counties:

    • Targeted Acreage: 6,000 Acres
    • Production: 3.5 Metric Tons Per Acre
    • Number of Contracted Farmers: 7,000 Farmers 
    • Volume/Expected Harvest: 20 ,000 Metric Tons
    • Seed Variety:/Quality: Determinate cultivars - Grade -1
    • Maturity Perion: 4 - 5 Months

BAMBOO TREE NURSERY Project

Bamboo farming is popular for its medicinal, ornamental and construction purposes. In Kenya, this type of farming is peaking with potential demand coming from construction companies, landscapers and even beer manufacturers. PGA Bamboo Nursery project intends to help farmers access certified seedling - as an additional remedy to poor performing crops like, maize, sugarcane and even coffee.


Bamboo Tree Nursery Production - A Climate Change Mitigation Project in Busia County:


    • Targeted Acreage: 500 Acres
    • Number of Contracted Farmers: 1,200 Farmers
    • Seed Variety: Giant Bamboo (Dendrocalamus giganteus) and Bambusa vulgaris
    • Income Value: Includes construction materials, paper, textiles, furniture, crafts, and bioenergy. With a high demand for export - its global market is expected to hit $98.3 billion by 2025.
    • Environmental Value: Bamboo is key to environmental protection - Absorbs 12 tons of CO2 per hectare yearly. Its roots prevent erosion and maintain fertility. Ideal for stabilizing slopes and rivers. Perfect for reforestation and land recovery. Reduces runoff and increases water infiltration. Aids in groundwater recharge. Prevents floods and regulates water naturally.
    • Maturity Period: Grows faster with maturity of 3 - 4 Years - offering numerous opportunities for frequent harvests. Faster than hardwoods, ensuring steady income.
